Paddy McGuire is a candidate for Mason County Auditor with nearly 20 years’ experience in election management. From 2000 to 2007, McGuire served as Oregon Deputy Secretary of State, managing the first in the nation all Vote-By-Mail general election and developing the Oregon Centralized Voter Registration System, the first new Help America Vote Act compliant voter registration system in the nation. McGuire served from 2010 to 2014 as Deputy Director of the Federal Voting Assistance Program, the Department of Defense agency charged with ensuring that Service members, their families and citizens living overseas get to vote. McGuire has also worked for private sector election companies and is currently an independent election consultant with contracts with several non-profit organizations.
Paddy is married to Vikki McGuire, who serves as non-partisan staff for the Washington State Senate. They live in their dream house on Harstine Island with their two rescue mutts, Charley and Sammy. They have a daughter, Katie, who works for Evercore, a global independent investment banking advisory firm, in Houston. She has an MBA from Cornell University.
McGuire was born in Olympia and went to public schools there and in Juneau, Alaska. He is a graduate of Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and has a certificate from the Senior Executives in State and Local Government program at the Kennedy School at Harvard. He is President-Elect of the Shelton Rotary Club, the Water Resource Inventory Area 14 Citizen’s Committee and the Hamilton College Alumni Council. McGuire is an avid road and trail bicyclist.
